Always buy Armor first. Buy at least a Kevlar vest and a helmet too if you can. Learn to be a good shot with your spawn pistol (Glock for Terrorist, USP for Counter T's). Once you can buy armor and have some money left over, reach for a good primary weapon. What gun depends on your play style. Some choose sniper or auto-sniper weapons, some prefer rifles, some sub-machine guns. Experiment with weapons and see what you like best. Most people choose the M4A1 or the AK47 but any gun in capable hands can be a good gun. Also, depending on the people you're playing with, it can be a good idea to develop the habit of buying a defusal kit. It can make or break the match, especially if you're playing with people who appreciate teamwork instead of free-for-all.
